What is ASISST?
The ASISST project is a new initiative funded by Innovate UK (Grant number: 10074300) to Address Shortages in Semiconductor Skills Training.
We are working to raise the UK public’s awareness of the semiconductor industry and produce accessible, relevant semiconductor training courses to fill identified gaps in UK STEM graduates. We also interact with local school pupils and their teachers during their visits to the University of Sheffield and local schools.
The project offers free and accessible online courses to highlight the importance of semiconductor technology and the excellent career opportunities available in this industry. In-depth courses will also be included in this project to explain the important roles of semiconductor devices and how they have been implemented in vast applications.
In addition, an in-person course aimed at STEM undergraduates, and MSc or PhD students wishing to pursue a career in semiconductor technology will be available on several dates in the summer of 2024. We also provide open-access labs for those interested in semiconductor device testing, which can be done simply with your computer at your place.
